ADHD and trauma are interwoven, but not interchangeable.
Trauma can resemble ADHD, intensify some of its difficulties and exist alongside it. That does not mean trauma causes ADHD, or that working through trauma makes ADHD disappear. I look at what the research tells us, why careful diagnosis matters and what living with both has taught me.
The PHOCUS Eating Map
Eating with ADHD is not usually just about knowing what to eat. It’s impacted by hunger cues, sensory load, executive capacity, stress, digestion, shame, and the state of your nervous system. In this article, I introduce the PHOCUS Eating Map, a reflective tool designed to help you understand what kind of support your eating may need right now, and why the PHOCUS Masterclass helps you turn that insight into practical next steps.
ADHD does not live in a neutral body
ADHD is never lived in isolation. This science-rich reflection looks at how ADHD is coloured by gender, sexuality, race, class, trauma, hormones, masking and access to care, and why neuroaffirming support needs to see the whole person in their full colour spectrum, and not only the symptoms.
Join my newsletter community
A thoughtful space where science meets story, and where food, mood, gut-brain health, neurodivergence and everyday nervous system care all belong in the same conversation.
I’ll send you reflections, practical ideas, fun experiments, book updates and honest notes from the human side of research, ADHD, creativity and body-mind health. This is also where I’ll share early news about ADHD Body + Mind resources, events and future community spaces.
